The Abandoned Cottage
The year was 3030. Me and my sister were the last humans on Earth.
All the others traveled to Mars to get away from Earth because it was dying.
Well that's what they thought. One day I was wandering around in the forest
and found an abandoned cottage with a tree grown right through the middle of
it. It was made of stone. The stone was covered in moss and had rough edges.
I thought to myself how long had this been here, maybe since 2019 or 2020?
I decided to get a closer look but suddenly I heard a noise. Some elephants came
stampeding past me! So I ran inside the cottage not even thinking about what I
was doing. A few seconds later a tiger ran past me and I thought pai (good) thing
I ran in here.

creaked creeeek the floor gave in! I fell right through the middle but luckily
my little sister followed me in, she was able to help me out. There was a large six
person glass table. I ran my hand over the top of it. It was so dusty my hand
got covered in dust. On the table there was a photo of some people. They
were out fishing at the lake near where I live.

I heard a roar it was the tiger again. It sounded like it was close so we ran
out of the cottage over to the lake. The tiger just saw me. He chased me so
we ran into the freezing makariri (cold) water. Straight away I was covered
with pins and needles. Luckily when we jumped out we were able to outrun
the tiger, well that's what we thought...
